Happy New Year

Well here we are, back and well-rested after the holidays. I hope you took some time off to spend with friends and family. Now you are back, hard at it to start off the new year.

The New Year is often a time for reflection on the old year and planning for the new. So how was last year? Most companies in our business found the going pretty rough. There were less projects, less new spending, and some of our old customers even closed shop. There’s an old saying, “When the going gets tough, the tough get going.”So what are you going to do to “get going” in the new year? If your results were less than stellar last year, it’s safe to say that your old business practices are not working in the new business environment. So what can you do different?

Here are a few thoughts. Are you taking advantage of the internet? You could start a blog to present new products and share technical information with your customers. Join a business related social media site like Linked-in. Update your web site, and really punch up the technical content so that customers will look to you first for information. Start an e-mail newsletter.

What about training and seminars? Can you offer a technical lecture series, or offer a keynote at an upcoming technical conference?
